Data & Privacy Officer

In your capacity as Data & Privacy Officer, your focus is on enabling Mollie to use (personal) data in an effective, efficient and ethical manner. While making sure all (personal) data is adequately protected from internal and external (cyber) security threats. 

You will have the opportunity to help shape the use of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence within Mollie. As an important business partner, you will help responsible domains in implementing new (European) legislation into practice (i.a.) Artificial Intelligence Act, Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and Payment Services Directive (PSD3).

As Data & Privacy Officer, you will also act as Mollie’s formal Data Protection Officer. As such, you’ll be responsible for interactions with the relevant Data Protection Authorities and to advise senior management of ongoing privacy developments, in collaboration with the Head of Risk. 

The Data & Privacy Officer is a part of the Risk Domain, which covers a wide range of risk areas (Financial, Operational, IT, Security & Privacy). This role reports into the Head of Risk and is based in our head-office in Amsterdam.


What you'll be doing:

  • You will be part of a small team focused on solving clearly defined problem spaces. 

  • Help the business in effective and ethical usage of (personal) data and think of innovative ways to strengthen Mollie’s foundation while enabling our growth plans;

  • Advice the business on the implementation  of adequate data protection and retention measures, applying both business and security considerations in your advice; 

  • Monitor and improve the implementation of Mollie’s Privacy Governance and Control Frameworks

  • Work with business stakeholders to perform Data Protection Impact Assessments, Legitimate Interest Assessments and maintain a complete Register of Processing Activities;

  • Play an important role in advocating the importance of privacy awareness amongst Mollie’s employees and in fostering a culture that enables Mollie to be commercially successful, while remaining compliant and in control of its data.


What you’ll bring:

  • 7-10 years of relevant working experience

  • Experience in data governance, data protection, security and privacy risk areas 

  • A strong business acumen, taking customer and business goals and objectives into account when providing advice on usage of (personal) data to internal stakeholders

  • Advanced knowledge of privacy regulations, international standards and data protection and security controls

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to communicate the relevance of risk decisions internally and externally to stakeholders

  • Demonstrable knowledge of current developments in the financial sector, including market best practices in privacy and data protection

  • You have an analytical mind and an eye for detail; the result of your work is characterized as considered and accurate

  • Experience in a regulated environment, preferably the financial services industry or e-commerce
