Legal Counsel

Mollie is one of Europe's fastest growing Fin-Tech companies. We're looking for an enthusiastic ambitious Legal Counsel to be part of our Amsterdam Legal & Compliance team.

FULL-TIME · AMSTERDAM

Mollie briefly explained

Mollie is one of Europe’s fastest growing fintech companies. We provide a simple and clear payment API, that enables webshops, platforms and app builders to implement various payment methods in one go.

Tinkering, disruption, and inclusivity are Mollie core values. In the first few years of existence, Mollie was a developer-only endeavour, and 14 years later devs and techs still comprise roughly 35% of all staff. As a natural consequence, a lot of things that enterprise businesses or pretend-to-be-start-ups are trying too hard to mimic, come quite natural to Mollie.

Job description

As a legal counsel you will be part of the Compliance, Legal and Risk Department, Mollie’s second line of defense. This department is responsible for ensuring Mollie acts in compliance with all prevailing laws, regulations, internal policies, procedures and codes of conduct.

Mollie aims to grow rapidly in Europe, which means that Mollie will be entering many new markets and jurisdictions in the years to come. As a result Mollie will be subject to new and specific regulations, guidelines and market best practices that need to be interpreted and translated to Mollie’s business. Furthermore, Mollie will be entering in new partnerships, for example with resellers, outsourcing service providers, partners that are part of the payment chain, and so on.

It is your responsibility to assess the impact of these specific regulations and to draw up, assess or negotiate the (often major) contracts that provide the framework for these partnerships.

In this position you’ll be working closely together with our Compliance Officer and Security Lead. You report directly to the Manager Compliance, Legal & Risk.
