Operational Risk Officer

The Opportunity

As an Operational Risk Officer, you focus on data driven control implementation, continuous monitoring capabilities and periodic risk reporting. In your day to day work in the Risk Domain, you will enable  our business domains to manage risk and controls within their processes, third parties and IT assets. As an important business partner, you will help responsible domains in implementing new (European) legislation into practice (i.a.) Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and Payment Services Directive (PSD3).


What you'll be doing:

  • Develop risk reports for a wide variety of stakeholders, including key trends, metrics and controls and ensure proper follow-up by responsible risk owners;

  • Help the business in opportunities for control automation and think of innovative ways to strengthen Mollie’s foundation while enabling our growth plans;

  • Monitor and improve the implementation of Mollie’s Risk Appetite Framework, and help take the business to the next level in terms of maturity;

  • Work with business stakeholders to regularly perform risk assessments and provide advice on risk mitigation strategies;

  • You play an important role in advocating the importance of risk awareness amongst Mollie’s employees and in fostering a culture that enables the company to be commercially successful, while remaining compliant and in control.


The Operational Risk Officer is a part of the Risk Domain, which covers a wide range of risk areas (Financial, Operational, IT, Security & Privacy). This role reports into the Operational Risk Lead and is based in our head-office in Amsterdam.


What you’ll bring:

  • 5-7 years of relevant working experience;

  • Experience in both IT and operational risk areas;

  • Advanced knowledge of organisation, process, technology controls and risk management challenges;

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to communicate the relevance of risk decisions internally and externally to stakeholders;

  • Demonstrable knowledge of current developments in the financial sector, including market best practices in operational risk management;

  • You have an analytical mind and an eye for detail; the result of your work is characterised as considered and accurate;

  • Experience in a regulated environment, preferably the financial services industry or e-commerce.
