The Opportunity
Mollie is looking for a versatile Operational Risk Officer to support the business growth. Reporting to the Risk Lead, this role involves overseeing a broad spectrum of risk areas, including Operational, IT, and Security, with a strong emphasis on assisting an expanding portfolio of products and services. You will collaborate directly with various departments to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions for our customers.
What you'll be doing:
• Partner with colleagues to build new or updated products, manage and deploy IT assets and implement risk and security controls while ensuring adherence to relevant regulations (DORA, PSD2, GDPR, AI Act, etc.),
• Develop and enhance risk reports with key metrics and trends for diverse stakeholders, ensuring accountability and follow-through,
• Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes in internal/external audits and certifications (PCI-DSS, ISAE, etc.),
• Translate complex regulations into actionable guidance, championing a risk culture that balances commercial success with compliance.
What you’ll bring:
Essential:
Experience - 3-5 years of relevant experience
Technical comfort - you're at ease with different technology platforms and can dive into technical documentation and system architectures;
Communication skills - excellent written and verbal abilities to explain risk decisions to both technical and business stakeholders;
Customer focus - always consider customer impact when making security and risk decisions;
Inquisitive approach - ready to experiment, always looking for better ways to solve problems.
Strong preference for:
Payments/fintech experience - understanding of financial or payments-related technical solutions.
Regulatory knowledge - working understanding of PCI DSS, DORA, PSD2, GDPR, AI Act.
