Senior Software Engineer (Java) - Amsterdam

Your Opportunity

As a senior software engineer, you will be building new java infrastructure and services for cutting-edge, user-friendly financial products and APIs which are used by tens of thousands of merchants on a daily basis. Code quality and system scalability are becoming increasingly important. Helping us build scalable systems by thinking ahead will be an essential part of your work.


What you’ll be doing

  • Build solid foundations for our Java ecosystem

  • Helping us to build large-scale services in Java

  • Work closely with engineers and products to build features at a large scale

  • Design, develop and maintain APIs, services and systems across Mollie’s engineering teams

  • Analyse & solve complex problems across the stack

  • You will put your skills to the test and allow yourself to grow and learn rapidly


What you'll bring

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in developing large scale web applications

  • Strong knowledge of Java is a must; other languages (like PHP, Go, Python) are a plus

  • Experience in Service Oriented Architecture patterns

  • Some professional experience working with the public cloud (either GCP, AWS or Azure)

  • Creative problem-solving skills

  • Experience with building scalable systems

  • Excellent communication skills and experience working effectively with different stakeholders


Nice to haves

  • Experience in working in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform

  • Solid computer science background

  • Experience with event streaming (such as Kafka) and distributed systems

  • Migrated services between microservices and monoliths and understand the practical tradeoffs of one architecture versus the other

  • Past experience with payments or FinTech
