Your Opportunity
As a Senior Staff Engineer you will be working on the tech platform that powers the company in it’s ambition to become the most loved Financial Services provider for SMBs in the world.
You will be working in a highly collaborative cross-functional environment, with a broad scope that spans all of Mollie’s Engineers. This role is quite special and you will have a deep impact across a wide variety of business and technology decisions spanning multiple systems.

What you'll do
  • Align Mollie’s system architecture with the strategic direction of the business. 
  • Be the main driver for architectural decisions at Mollie, making sure the systems we design and build fit into our strategy and enable the company’s objectives.
  • Define architecture principles to provide guidance to Mollie’s Engineering department.
  • Provide technical leadership to design, build, develop and scale Mollie’s systems and applications, with the objective to enable the business to grow and move fast. This means ensuring that the right building blocks are designed and implemented at Mollie.
  • Inspire and mentor engineers across Mollie, particularly around the topic of architecture, system design, and scalability.
  • Play a key role in setting, communicating and executing Mollie’s technical vision, maintaining the balance and right tradeoff for building products for speed and technical depth.
  • Develop architecture framework, models, and blueprints, to guide in the design and deployment of key services in Mollie’s ecosystemIntroduce and use tools and repositories to collect and manage architecture information and artefacts.

What you'll bring
  • 12+ years of software development experience
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing large scale distributed systems, ideally in fast growing environmentsExcellent backend development skills, with a focus on building 
  • Experience working as a (senior) staff level or above at a fast successful paced tech company
  • Leadership experience, proven ability to generate buy-in and pull people together toward a common goal
  • Enablement mindset, meaning you get the most out of the people around you
  • Business aware and customer centric mindset
  • Experience with back end languages such as PHP, Java, Go, Python or C++Great interpersonal skills connected with deep technical ability
  •  Ability to assess new technologies and make pragmatic choices that help guide Mollie towards long term vision

Nice to have
  • Experience in a fintech or regulated environment
  • Masters/Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform

The person who takes this role will be able to drive key architecture and technology decisions across Mollie, ensuring good connectivity between the business needs and the systems we build, and help shape the future of Mollie and the Financial Services industry.

About Engineering

Mollie is expanding its product portfolio, geographic footprint, and internal organization rapidly. The Web Team is responsible for the website and all related web architecture. The web team helps Mollie express its value proposition to the outside world, inform, convert and acquire new customers and to enable internal teams to use the site as a platform for growth.
