What you will be doing:
- Setting the vision and strategy for a scalable architecture for the whole domain, with a long term thinking and a pragmatic approach for an iterative implementation of it
- Coaching and mentoring via pair programming, PoC development and technology scouting
- Driving technical strategic decisions in cross-functional teams and leading cross-cutting tech initiatives within the domain
- Actively seeking out bottlenecks to our efficiency as a team, proposing and coordinating solutions that will enable the entire team to increase stability and scalability, minimise technical debt with a deep understanding of the department-wide projects.
- Influencing and helping with defining the domain-wide vision, direction, and product improvement goals
- Serving as role model and providing the technical guidance to engineers in the domain while raising the bar for engineering practices and standards
What you'll bring
- Typically 10+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Strong experience in Java and/or PHP designing, building and scaling distributed systems
- Experience with event-driven architectures and migration trajectories
- Professional experience working with the public cloud (either GCP, AWS or Azure)
- Experience leading the engineering teams to deliver autonomously on large cross-functionally driven projects
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
- Creative problem solving skills
- Effective communication skills, and the ability to coach teams and raise the bar being a role model to the teams
Nice to haves:
- Experience in working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with event streaming and distributed systems
- Experience migrating services between microservices and monoliths and understanding the practical tradeoffs of one architecture versus the other
- Past experience with payments or FinTech

Mollie is expanding its product portfolio, geographic footprint, and internal organization rapidly. The Web Team is responsible for the Mollie.com website and all related web architecture. The web team helps Mollie express its value proposition to the outside world, inform, convert and acquire new customers and to enable internal teams to use the Mollie.com site as a platform for growth.
