Credit Risk Specialist

Compliance and Risk

Full-time

Mollie is looking for a talented and motivated Credit Risk Specialist to join our Risk & Fraud department. Beyond technical skills, we’re seeking someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, contributes to a positive team culture, and is driven to learn, grow, and improve how we work.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in onboarding new merchants and monitoring our existing portfolio to detect and manage credit risk. You'll work closely with our commercial teams and have a direct impact on Mollie’s growth and value creation — all while helping refine our processes and ensuring smooth information flow across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conduct full credit assessments for new merchants, with clear, risk-mitigating recommendations.

  • Continuously monitor existing portfolios (SMBs and Enterprises), and advise on credit limits or collateral adjustments.

  • Help improve internal credit risk models, policies, and processes.

  • Respond to internal and external stakeholders on credit risk matters.

  • Analyze financial statements to evaluate merchant health and risk to Mollie.

  • Assess a broad range of data — business models, credit scores, bank statements, processing history, and peer benchmarks — to develop a comprehensive risk profile.

  • You’ll be part of a small, focused team solving clearly defined challenges together.

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 2 years of experience in commercial credit assessment or risk analysis.

  • Ability to thrive under autonomy.

  • Full proficiency in both German and English.

  • Strong understanding of financial statements and core accounting principles.

  • Experience with high exposure clients, complex business models, or high-risk sectors.

  • Familiarity with e-commerce verticals is a big plus.

  • Familiarity with payment services and methods – an advantage.

  • Excellent analytical skills and a curiosity to understand how and why things work.

  • Ability to improve workflows and information sharing across teams.

  • A proactive team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Academic background in finance, accounting, or a related field.

  • Bonus: Additional language skills such as Dutch or French are a strong advantage.

Why Join Mollie?

  • A collaborative, supportive, and fast-paced team environment.

  • Real opportunities to influence key processes and grow professionally.

  • A workplace that values initiative, transparency, and mutual respect.
