React Native Engineer

Your opportunity

At Mollie, we’re on a mission to make payments and money management effortless for every business in Europe.

We started 20 years ago when we launched a more direct, affordable way for companies to get paid. That provided an alternative to the frustrating, overpriced solutions that banks offered at the time.

Today, we serve more than 250,000 businesses across Europe with an all-in-one solution that simplifies payments and money management. And we’re a 850-strong team of product, finance, support, commerce, and engineering specialists working across Europe – from Lisbon to London.

The App Core team plays a pivotal role in enabling this vision by building a robust platform that empowers other teams to ship faster and more efficiently across our mobile and web applications.

We are looking for a talented React Native Engineer to join our team and help create a seamless and scalable infrastructure that enhances our internal developer experience and accelerates feature delivery. Imagine working on a platform that not only improves developer efficiency but also bridges the gap between mobile and web, enabling seamless feature parity across all platforms. Your work will directly impact how quickly and efficiently teams can launch new experiences for our customers.

Join us to be part of a team that is shaping the future of Mollie's technology stack, driving innovation in app development, and setting new standards for efficiency and maintainability.

What you'll be doing

You will be working with us to build a cutting-edge platform that enables our product teams to deliver high-quality user experiences at scale. Your role will involve:

  • Building a platform that enables other teams to ship faster across our mobile and web applications.

  • Bridging the gaps between mobile and web by developing shared modules that work seamlessly across both platforms.

  • Developing tools that allow teams to localize their applications in days instead of weeks.

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to onboard new features into our mobile app when they are currently only available on the web.

  • Ensuring scalability and performance of our platform to support the rapid growth of Mollie’s product suite.

Our architecture

Mollie’s frontend landscape consists of multiple apps, each optimized for its specific purpose, such as our dashboard, API documentation, and mobile applications. Our tech stack includes:

  • Frontend: TypeScript, React, and React Native, with a focus on flexible and reusable components.

  • Backend: Primarily PHP, with services deployed in Google Cloud.

  • Infrastructure: A combination of monolithic and service-based architectures, with queueing systems to ensure efficient processing at scale.

  • Developer Experience: A strong emphasis on internal tooling, enabling teams to develop, test, and deploy features with minimal friction.

As a React Native Engineer in the App Core team, you will be instrumental in improving our internal tooling, optimising workflows, and enhancing our shared UI library, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all applications.

If you’re passionate about building platforms that empower developers and drive efficiency at scale, we’d love to hear from you!

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience with developing mobile & web applications.

  • Experience with complex React & React Native apps.

  • Knowledge of language primitives. You should feel comfortable interacting with native APIs built into the browser.

  • While you don’t have to be an expert on CSS, you are comfortable implementing a user interface using components available in our design system.

  • Experience writing unit and end-to-end tests

  • Experience with creating public or internal REST APIs.

  • A knack for creating intuitive and secure user experiences.

  • You enjoy being a generalist, working on frontend, and backend, as needed to solve problems and delight our users.

Nice to have

  • You have experience mentoring other engineers and like to help others grow in their careers.

  • If you have experience with design systems and/or internally developed component libraries, that is a big advantage
