Treasury & Merchant Finance Controller

We are looking for an exceptional Treasury and Merchant Finance Controller to join our Treasury and Merchant Team in Amsterdam!!


Your Opportunity

As a Treasury & Merchant Finance Controller at Mollie, you will play a pivotal role in managing and executing our reconciliation processes to ensure the safeguarding of customer funds. Your responsibilities will extend to identifying and mitigating risks related to safeguarding, as well as contributing to the  further development and implementation of the Safeguarding control framework and policies. 

Beyond your role in the CFO team, you’ll be a key player in the Financial Services Domain, where you’ll be responsible for driving improvements and automations across various areas. Your expertise in financial reconciliations, combined with your analytical skills and determination, will be critical in delivering value in these areas.

What you’ll be doing

  • You will execute and oversee the safeguarding processes, while contributing to the enhancement and implementation of Mollie’s safeguarding policies and control framework across the organisation;

  • You handle escalations effectively, providing critical updates and information to the governance committee on project developments;

  • Take ownership of safeguarding compliance, developing and implementing strategies to manage and remediate breaches in accordance with applicable policies;

  • Lead and manage safeguarding-related audits in collaboration with external audit firms and regulators, while coordinating efforts across multiple internal departments; 

  • You will play a key role in company-wide growth initiatives by providing expert support in the development of new products and payment methods, leveraging your deep understanding of the reconciliation and safeguarding processes.


What you'll bring

  • You have approximately 5+ years treasury, finance or risk related experience;

  • You a have a strong understanding of safeguarding customer funds or protection/custodianship of customer assets; 

  • You have strong communication and influencing skills with an ability to build and leverage cross-functional relationships internally and externally 

  • You have a good understanding of treasury concepts within financial services, including reconciliations, cash management, and FX, along with associated risks and controls;

  • You are proactive and have an analytical approach with a strong sense of ownership; 

  • You have a solution-oriented mindset and have the ability to come up with new ideas to improve our policies and processes;

  • An advanced degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience that demonstrates a comparable level of knowledge and thinking; 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
