Your impact

The DACH market is Mollie's pioneer region for Upmarket – and this role sits right at the centre of that. As a Business Development Manager, you'll own the full sales cycle for acquiring new merchant customers in mid- and upmarket segments. From cold outreach to signed contracts to Go-Live, you're the primary face of Mollie in the market – engaging prospects through email, phone, and in-person channels.

This isn't a role for someone who wants a playbook handed to them. Payment products are complex and every deal is different – requiring you to think on your feet, adapt your methodology, and balance short- and long-term pipeline opportunities at the same time. You'll work closely with Sales Engineering, Onboarding, Risk, Compliance, and agency partners to get deals across the line and customers live.

What you build here matters. BDMs in DACH are directly contributing to one of Mollie's most strategically important growth initiatives, with a clear path to Senior BDM and, over time, a sharper focus on Enterprise and larger, more complex accounts.


What you'll ship

  • A healthy, self-sourced pipeline built on a 60/40 Inbound/Outbound split – using account mapping, cold outreach, and structured Discovery and Execution to move deals forward consistently

  • Full-cycle deal ownership from first contact through negotiation, contract handling, and Go-Live coordination – managing deals ranging from 4 weeks to multiple months in duration

  • Accurate pipeline planning and forecasting, with a clear view of short- and long-term opportunities and the strategic thinking to prioritise both

  • Strong merchant relationships in the DACH market, built through in-person engagement, events, and external communication that grows Mollie's brand awareness in the region

  • Smooth cross-functional coordination with Sales Engineering, Onboarding, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure customers go live without friction

  • Consistent performance against targets – converting Upmarket prospects into active Mollie customers and raising the bar on what great looks like in DACH


What you'll bring

  • 3–5 years of sales experience, with a proven track record in both inbound and outbound – you've built pipeline from scratch and you know what it takes to close

  • Demonstrated experience in outbound sales with cold outreach, including the ability to open, manage, and close complex, customised deals that require negotiation and contract handling

  • A background in Payment, FinTech, E-Commerce, or SaaS – ideally being involved in selling customizable and more complex products

  • Confidence in C-level communication and stakeholder management, with strong networking skills and the ability to run structured Discovery (familiarity with frameworks like MEDDICC is a plus)

  • The ability to plan, forecast, and manage a diverse pipeline – balancing short-term wins with longer-term strategic opportunities without losing momentum on either

  • Full professional proficiency in German and English, with high motivation and genuine curiosity about the payments world
