Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for a job at Mollie?

That’s simple! Take a look at our job openings - you will be able to see all the positions that are currently open in our team. Once you find the job that matches your career aspirations, press apply, add your Resumé and a Cover Letter, and you are good to go!

Pro tip: Your cover letter should be short and sweet. Let the hiring team know why you are applying to this position and what you can bring to the table. You do not need to explain your experience here, it should be shown in your CV. The cover letter is a good opportunity to show your key achievements and career goals.

What is the recruitment process like at Mollie?

Our recruitment process is pretty straightforward. We want to give you the opportunity to get to know us and decide whether we could offer you the right challenge. At the same time, we would like to evaluate your skills and how well you adhere to our values. So let’s go!

1. Submitting your application — No black hole alert!

After the submission of your application on our career site, we will carefully review it. We do receive a lot of them, so it might take us some time but we are confident to say that you will hear from us within 2 weeks.

Pro tip: Make sure that you include your motivation to join us as well as what you think you can bring to Mollie.

2. Video call - Meet & Greet with our Talent Acquisition team

Looks like your application caught our eye! One of our Talent Acquisition Business Partners will get in touch with you to plan a call. It will be a short phone or video call (about 30–45 minutes) where they will tell you more about Mollie and the position. They will also ask you about your motivation, why you want to join us, your ambitions, and your biggest accomplishments thus far. Last but not least, they will answer any questions you might have. Within a week they will inform you whether you made it to the next round - to the 1st interview!

Pro tip: Read a blog about our values and give some examples of how you embodied them. Also make sure that you take a look at the job description, social media channels like LinkedIn or Instagram, or our blog on interview tips from our Talent Acquisition team before the call.

3. First interview — When things get interesting

Congratulations, you are now about to meet the hiring team! We will schedule a video call for you to meet with the Hiring Manager and/or a couple of team members you will be working with. We will send more information about them in advance so you can prepare. In this round, you will discuss your day-to-day tasks and you will be challenged on some job-related problems and how you would solve them. There will definitely be time for your questions as well.

This round usually takes 1 hour. Our Talent Acquisition team will update you on the outcome within a week.

Pro tip: We are interested in specific examples rather than generic answers. Try to phrase your answers with the initial problem, how exactly did you approach it, and what was the end result. Here’s some useful information that will help you prepare for the interview.

4. Business case a.k.a The Challenge

You have passed the first interview - so far so good! We will now test your skills with a take-home assignment. It may be a coding exercise, a 30–60–90 day plan you need to prepare, or a simple sales pitch presentation. The aim is to see your thinking process and skills in action when solving some real problems. Usually, you will have a week to complete it and send it back to us for a review. For some roles, we will also schedule a conversation with a couple of team members for you to present your business case. If we are happy with your solution, we will invite you to the last interview round. Otherwise, we will give you detailed feedback on what was missing and what can be improved next time so you can come back stronger.

5. Final interview - The last countdown

Here we are, the last step of the process! Now you are ready to meet the rest of the team. This should be the last step of the process (might consist of a few conversations) where you will be able to meet with all the relevant stakeholders. Our aim is to really understand your skills and impact as well as to answer all your questions, so you can make the best decision, ideally to join us :)

Keep in mind that this process may be different when it comes to manager or executive leadership positions. There might be some differences in the interview process for different roles, but we will inform you about it beforehand.

What qualities and skills does Mollie look for in candidates?

We are a fast-paced company with a strong culture. We aim to be a stimulating, creative, rewarding, and fun place to work. While specific requirements may vary depending on the role, ‘the Mollie Way’ lies at the heart of it; our six working principles that shape who we are, that govern what we do and how we do it. They also determine who we hire, how we evaluate, and what we reward. And we believe that they will serve as guidance for all those who are considering joining us on our mission.

Make our customers proud

At Mollie, our customers are the centre of our universe. They are the beginning and end of everything we do. We put ourselves in their shoes and use their feedback to help us continually improve. We’re passionate about seeing them grow and we want them to feel proud to be Mollie customers.

At Mollie, we have an entrepreneurial spirit. Each of us is in control of Mollie’s success. That means we have to be innovative, resourceful, and responsible. We check our egos at the door and believe that no work is beneath us. We don't care about being right, but about doing right.

We are as diverse as we are united

At Mollie, we bring open hearts and open minds to work. We don’t judge each other for our differences because we know they make our products and culture stronger. We embrace diversity and encourage everyone to be their authentic selves at work. We are a team of individuals – diverse yet united.

Speak up

At Mollie, we are in it to win it. And we can only win if we’re brave enough to be honest with each other. Our authenticity means we are transparent and we admit our mistakes without fear of judgement. And we’re never shy about letting our fellow Mollies know how awesome they are.

Can I apply for multiple positions simultaneously?

Yes, you can apply for multiple positions as long as they match your experience and what you are looking for. Make sure that you can explain your motivations for different roles as the Hiring Team might ask you about that.
