At Mollie, we’re on a mission to make payments and money management effortless for every business in Europe. We started 20 years ago when we launched a more direct, affordable way for companies to get paid. That provided an alternative to the frustrating, overpriced solutions that banks offered at the time.

Today, we serve more than 250,000 businesses across Europe with an all-in-one solution that simplifies payments and money management. And we’re a 850-strong team of product, finance, support, commerce, and engineering specialists working across Europe – from Lisbon to London

Our Monitoring teams oversee all monitoring activities necessary for Mollie in managing credit, integrity, and fraud risks. Your role involves building technologies to detect malicious or insolvent merchants before they harm Mollie or our customers. It's crucial for Mollie to stay profitable and compliant with regulations like anti-money laundering. You'll work in a cross-functional team with Engineers, Data and ML specialists, enhancing existing tools and developing new ones using monitoring algorithms based on streaming and machine learning.

What you will be doing:
  • Contributing to the development of solid foundations for our Java ecosystem

  • Working closely with engineers, data scientists, data analysts and product to build features at a large scale, including handling millions of data points per day

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining APIs, services and systems across Mollie’s engineering teams

  • Evaluating & solving complex problems across the stack

  • Putting your skills to the test and allowing yourself to grow and learn rapidly

What you'll bring
  • Knowledge and passion for Java and Spring Boot, with a general understanding of microservices architecture.

  • Basic understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.

  • Eagerness to work with event-driven systems, data pipelines, and stream processing (Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, etc.).

  • Curiosity - You are an innovative and creative problem-solver and constantly look for ways to adjust and optimise processes

  • Fast learning - You love learning about new technologies and creating innovative solutions

  • Team work - You believe you can achieve better results within a team than working alone. You support and encourage your teammates to excel. You rely on feedback from others for continuous improvement

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice to haves:
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts or experience working alongside ML engineers.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, or observability tools.

  • Exposure to or interest in Payments or FinTech sectors.

Kindly note that relocation support is not offered for candidates outside of Europe for this role.
